Lead With Intent:
A Lifetime in the Making
Enough Theatre, Lets Get to Work
I’ve lived in Kamloops for almost all of my 58 years. I grew up on these streets, went to school here, raised my family, built my businesses, and spent 15 years in an Auxiliary RCMP uniform volunteering to keep this community safe. I love this city. But like you, I’m tired of watching a cycle of 'crisis management' that rewards dysfunction while everyday taxpayers are ignored. We don't have a resource problem; we have a leadership gap.
Our current municipal system has become entirely reactive, frequently waiting for predictable issues to escalate into community crises before taking action. As a former tech CEO and executive coach, I have dedicated my career to breaking dysfunctional organizational patterns. I am bringing that executive lens to City Hall to ensure every policy is intentional, every dollar is transparent, and every decision is designed for the long-term stability of the city we call home.
My "Pattern-Breaker" Platform
Public Safety & Neighborhood Vitality
"We need proactive solutions that address the root causes of disorder, ensuring our streets are safe and enjoyable for every citizen, in every corner of Kamloops." - Chris Mitra
True safety means more than just tracking crime statistics; it is about how it feels to live, work, and raise a family in our city. A thriving Kamloops relies on vibrant, livable neighbourhoods where families can walk to local parks, seniors feel secure, and our streets are genuinely enjoyable.
Drawing on my 15 years of local law enforcement volunteer service and my background as a restorative justice facilitator, I am focused on proactive, systems-based solutions that restore order and focus on the well-being of the whole community.
Strategic Financial Stewardship
"I’m bringing a CEO’s discipline to our budget. This isn't about making empty promises to slash taxes; it’s about ensuring that every dollar the city spends provides a measurable return in value to the taxpayers who provided it." - Chris Mitra
Municipal budgeting requires a long-term vision, not short-sighted fixes. I won't insult your intelligence by promising to solve every financial hurdle overnight, but I will promise to work diligently to end wasteful, reactionary spending.
I am bringing a disciplined, analytical approach to the city budget—the same rigour I used to scale and run companies in the technology sector. It is time we prioritize smart investments in our essential infrastructure and ensure that our city administration delivers the highest quality of service.
Disciplined & Accountable Leadership
"Governance should be professional, not personal. I am committed to restoring decorum and accountability to our Council chambers, focusing on collaborative solutions rather than public conflict." - Chris Mitra
Effective governance is about execution, alignment, and mutual respect—not personal conflict. Right now, many Kamloops residents feel trapped in a pressure cooker because their everyday questions and concerns are entirely drowned out by political noise.
I am running to serve as the professional relief valve this city needs. By drawing on my decades of experience breaking dysfunctional patterns and coaching executives, I will restore stability, open communication, and high-level decorum to the council table.
